The Landscape of Murder

Murder #199, Douglas Hutchinson, West Hampstead........Douglas Hutchison, 60, was found lying unconscious from a head injury on his doorstep in West Hampstead on November 29, 2012. Hutchison died two weeks later in hospital. Police charged Tim Sommer, 18, with murder. Sommer pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility after psychiatrists agreed he was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia. Sommer was jailed indefinitely under the Mental Health Act.
