Yinka Shonibare
Yinka Shonibare, MBE, (born 1962) is a British-Nigerian artist living in the UK. He readily acknowledges physical disability as part of his identity. Yinka moved to Lagos, Nigeria when he was three. At 16, he returned to Britain to do his A-levels.[2] After A-levels he went to art school. Shonibare contracted transverse myelitis, an inflammation across the spinal cord,[3] at the age of seventeen, which resulted in a long term physical disability. Shonibare's most famous work is "Nelson's Ship In A Bottle" which is on top of the fourth plinth at Trafalgar Square.
